- February 18 - VEE Corporation announced that it would produce Barney Live in Concert - Birthday Bash!.
- March 2 - Egg-Cellent Adventures is released in stores.
- April - Big World Adventure is filmed.
- April 13 - Imagination Island is re-released on DVD in stores.
- Barney Rocks! El Concierto en Vivo! begins performing in Mexico.
- May 18 - Let's Play Outside is released in stores.
- May 25 - The DVD 3-pack, On-The-Go Pack! is released to stores. This set includes Barney's Red, Yellow and Blue!, Happy Mad Silly Sad and Barney's Colorful World!
- June 15 - Barney Songs From the Park is re-released in stores.
- Late June/Early July - I Can Do It! is filmed.
- July 11 - The launch of the BarneyLiveTour website.
- July 27 - Furry Friends is released to stores.
- September 9-12 - The English version of Barney's Space Adventures makes it debut in Singapore at the Singapore Expo Hall 2.
- September 14 - A-Counting We Will Go is released in stores.
- October - I Love My Friends is filmed.
- October 4 - Season 14 premieres on PBS.
- October 12 - Barney's Adventure Bus is re-released on DVD in stores.
- October 13 - The costume designer for Barney, Baby Bop, and BJ, Irene Corey, dies of Parkinson's Disease.
- October 26 - The DVD 6-pack, Learning Pack is released in stores. This set includes It's Time for Counting, Let's Play School, Barney's Rhyme Time Rhythm, Barney's Red, Yellow and Blue!, Barney's Numbers! Numbers!, and Now I Know My ABCs.
- November 2 - Season 14 finale on PBS.
- November 9 - Best Fairy Tales is released in stores.
- November 19 - Barney Live in Concert - Birthday Bash! begins performing at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- December 10 - Barney's Christmas Star aired on Sprout. It would later re-air on the channel on December 13, 2011.
- December 24 - Barney's Night Before Christmas aired on Sprout during the Elmo's Movie Merry-thon event. The date this special aired was on Christmas Eve, a day before Christmas.

- Barney's Super-Dee-Super Fun Day was launched as the first mobile application for the iPhone™ and iPod Touch.
- Barney & Friends went to a temporary hiatus after season fourteen. According to the producers, it was officially confirmed that the show had ended its run and was considered to be the final season of the series. However, some DVD releases would soon be released on various dates after the series' original run with some containing new content and some containing episodes from seasons seven through thirteen.
- A Very Merry Christmas is filmed.
