- May 24: 9 Story begins uploading content on 'Barney Nursery Rhymes & Kids Songs', a repurposed YouTube channel for Barney content that was originally known as an official YouTube channel for the Canadian/American animated educational television children's series Arthur since 2015.
- August 10: Connecticut Public, the parent organization of Connecticut Public Television that co-produced Barney & Friends, is announced to develop a podcast chronicling the inside story of Barney.[1][2]
- August: Barney officially joins the social media app Instagram, under the username @barneythedinosaursocial before changing to @barneythedinosaur shortly after.
- October: Barney officially joins the social media app TikTok, under the username @barneythedinosaur.

- March 3: I Love You, You Hate Me is theatrically released at 8PM at the Smodcastle Cinemas in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey for one night only[3]
- April 25-June 7: Barney performs at Fun Theatre in Jeddah City Walk in Saudi Arabia.[4]
- May 26-28: Barney performs at MamaMagic Baby Expo Durban at Gallagher Convention Centre.[5]

- November 18: Barney made a guest appearance at ComplexCon 2023 at the Emotionally Unavailable Booth.[7] At 4PM PT/7 PM ET, Kylie Mar, an on-air host, producer and writer, went live on NTWRK with Barney to show off the collection at the event.
Merchandise[]
- February 13: Mattel announces that apparel and accessories for adult fans, featuring classic Barney, are in development.[8]
- September 3: Super Impulse announces a Barney plush for their World's Smallest brand. The plush would later be showcased from September 30th to October 3rd at booth 1935 at the New York Toy Fair.[9][10]
- November 3: NTWRK and Mattel announces that Barney is collaborating with the "Emotionally Unavailable" clothing brand for their "Emotionally Unavailable x Barney" collection,[11] which is set to showcase 90's-inspired apparel,[12] for a debut launch of November 18, 2023.
- November 18: "Emotionally Unavailable x Barney" collection releases. It was released online at 4PM PT/7 PM ET. The collection included a "Top Hat" T-Shirt and Hug" T-Shirt - Cream, where both designs came in cream and black colors, a Barney Hoodie and a Barney Plush Keychain. The keychain sold out the day after it released, but would eventually become available for purchase again after sales closed during the initial limited release schedule.
- November 20: Sales of the "Emotionally Unavailable x Barney" collection officially closed at 4PM PT/7 PM ET.

- July 1: Simon & Schuster will begin handling sales and distribution of the Mattel Press Imprint to the U.S. and Canada. Mattel Press Imprint will complement content, support brand initiatives, and create new stories based on various Mattel IPs, including Barney.[13]

- January 9: Distributed by Lifetime, the first episode of I Love You, You Hate Me becomes available in Canada.
- January 16: Distributed by Lifetime, the second episode of I Love You, You Hate Me becomes available in Canada.

- May 24: During this week, it was announced that seasons ten, eleven and twelve of Barney & Friends became available to stream on Sling TV Freestream via the channels of FilmRise Kids[15] and Kartoon Channel!.
- Fall: A new Cineverse Matchpoint managed services partnership was announced for three channels with 9 Story, including the Barney franchise.[16][17]
- September 29: Barney & Friends Specials, a package containing various Barney Home Videos is released on Tubi. Videos within the package include Celebrating Around The World, You Can Be Anything, Barney's Colorful World!, Can You Sing That Song?, Let's Go to the Farm, The Land of Make Believe, Let's Go to the Fire House, Let's Make Music, Barney's Super Singing Circus, Top 20 Countdown, More Barney Songs and Let's Play School.
- October 10: 9 Story Media Group is announced to launch a branded free ad-supported streaming television channel globally in 2024, which is set to include content from Barney & Friends.[18][19][20]
- October 24: The Roku Channel, an American over-the-top VOD streaming service, launched a streaming channel dedicated to Barney & Friends. Located on Channel 434 on the Live Guide on Roku TVs,[21] the channel debuted by showcasing the entirety of season seven of Barney & Friends.
- November 16: Samsung TV Plus, a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service owned by Samsung Electronics, launched a streaming channel dedicated to Barney & Friends.[22]
