AJ is a character who only appeared in Barney & The Backyard Gang in the video Rock with Barney as one of the Backyard Gang's "new friends". He was portrayed by Ajay Reddy.
AJ, alongside Kathy, Jennifer and Joseph, performed the "Six Little Ducks" on stage at the movie studio using duck umbrellas. Each time Barney would perform a sound that wasn't a duck, AJ and the others would inform Barney that he was making the wrong sound. Once Barney performed the right sound for the song, he and the others cheered.
Following the song, AJ introduced himself to The Backyard Gang. AJ, Jennifer and Joseph would then stand with Barney to the side as Kathy performed her song for the others on stage. Following the song, AJ thanks Barney and informs him that it's always fun whenever he's around. He and the other new kids eventually waved goodbye to The Backyard Gang.
