Barney's Calling logo
Barney's Calling, which also shared the official Barney website's address, BarneyOnline.com, was a collaboration between CTS Technologies Inc. and Lyrick Studios starting in 2000. Customers could listen to Barney tell stories via a phone line while animations (or slides) would play in synchronization on the customer's computer[1].
Background[]
At a cost of $2.99, Barney would tell a story or a rhyme for about four minutes.[2] Prior to each story, a countdown from 10 to 1 would commence on-screen before the call would come through on the designated phone line. Customers could later log in to see the presentations they had previously purchased via credit card (one such presentation was entitled "Barney's Mother Goose Stories").
The service lasted throughout 2001.
