Impact[]
Between the first and second seasons, a mother wrote to the Barney producers that the song helped save her and her daughter when they got in a car accident. When the mom and her young daughter were stopped at an intersection in a car, the unbuckled daughter began to sing "Buckle Up My Seatbelt" to convey to her mother that she needed to be buckled. The mother noticed the issue and buckled her daughter in her seat. When the light turned green, they arrived at another intersection where another car slammed into them after running the light. The mother and daughter were bruised, but authorities recognized that the seatbelt saved the daughter's life. [1] When he heard the story, Stephen White recognized the mom as a voice actress he worked with, prior to Barney, and made him realize the impact of the song.
