Campfire Sing-Along is the fifth video in the Barney & The Backyard Gang series. It was originally released in May 30, 1990.[1]
Plot[]
Educational Theme: Camping Safety
Stories: Let's Go Camping
After listening to a story about camping read by Tina's mother, she wishes that she could go camping someday. After Tina falls asleep, she dreams about a camping trip with Barney and the rest of the Backyard Gang. Barney takes his friends through different fun experiences from pitching tents to having a snack. In the mist of things, a storm comes around and Tina gets lost in the woods. Thanks to Barney's advice earlier of "Stay where you are, hug a tree, and blow your whistle!", everyone finds Tina and the gang continue onto more campfire fun. Barney and his friends even explore a cave where The Bear lives. Back at the campfire, songs are sung around it, and everyone learns how to make s'mores. After the trip is over, Tina wakes up and realizes it was all just a dream - and a magical one at that.

Trivia[]
- Although the cover and tape label refer to this video, "Barney's Campfire Sing-Along", the actual title is just simply "Campfire Sing-Along".
- In this video, the Backyard Gang Doll that was used is slightly bigger than one sent through the "Fan Club" possibly a prototype or a studio doll only meant for this video similar to the 1988-1989 doll for the first trilogy.
- According to Jess Nelson, the reason why the smile is more prominent on the Barney Doll in this video only is because the studio decided to use a white strip of tape.
Occurrences[]
- This video marked:
- The final video until Play with Barney to not have "I Love You" sung at the end of the video.
- The only appearances of Jeffrey, Luci and Tina's Mom, and The Bear.
- Jeffrey replaces Adam, as the actor, Alexander Jhin, who portrays Adam fell ill.
- Unlike other videos, this is only video to have one of the members of The Backyard Gang use their imagination in a dream.
- The second video to show Barney going to sleep as shown in Waiting for Santa.
- The only time, the song "I'm Being Eaten By a Tyrannosaurus Rex“ was mentioned and never again in other Barney Home Videos after this video.
- The first video to show Barney eating vegetables other than a PBJ sandwich as shown in A Day at the Beach.
- The first appearance of the 1990-1991 Barney doll.
- The final time "I Love You" (this video has both languages) was sung at the beginning until Sprout's Dino-Mite Valentine's Sing-Along. In addition, the arrangement being used there would also be recycled when Season 7 had begun production, albeit being reharmonized in an early-2000s style.
- Unlike the first trilogy of videos where the Barney doll would wink, this is the first video to have a twinkle appear in the Barney doll's eye at the end.
- Starting with this video onward (including home media releases based on the television series), the names for the main characters who appeared in the video itself are now shown during the end credits since the first four videos only showed their actors/actresses being credited.
- Additionally, this video is the only Backyard Gang video that uses the Barney doll from the opening.
- As mentioned by Michael and Luci, usually it's the Backyard Gang that calls Barney for help, but this is the second time Barney has ask them for help since Waiting for Santa.
- As shown in the first four videos of the series, Barney formerly lived with two siblings, Michael and Amy. Starting with this video, it is revealed that he now lives with another set of siblings, Luci and Tina as they now have taken possession in owning the doll. The reason for this change being made permanent was never stated or mentioned at all.
