Role in series[]
Barney & The Backyard Gang[]
Waiting for Santa[]
In the video, Derek was sad because he was new in the neighborhood and he hasn't made any friends yet. He was worried that Santa wouldn't know his new address and wouldn't be able to come and see him. Derek wished that he could have some new friends right before Barney and The Backyard Gang arrived in his room. Once they arrive and give out introductions, Michael invites Derek to join the gang. Pleased by the invitation and his making of new friends, he informs the others of his dilemma. Barney tells everyone that after conversing with Santa he wants them all to visit Santa's workshop so Mrs. Claus can show Derek that his name is on the list. Eventually, they make it to the North Pole and Derek sees that Santa has his name and new address on his list.
Barney & Friends[]
"Alphabet Soup!"[]
Derek writes a mystery word on the chalkboard to help Min and Kathy read words where he has Barney and the others guess the letters of the mystery word one-by-one while engaging in alphabet-themed songs and activities. Once the mystery word is fully written, Derek helps Min and Kathy read out the word. The mystery word is none other than "BARNEY".
"Be A Friend"[]
Michael made a picture of the playground outside while Derek made a picture of Barney to put within Michael's background (which was titled "Barney in the Playground"). Michael was looking forward to taking the picture home in his room, however Derek wanted to take it home to show it to his brothers. Michael further explained that he did more work on the picture while Derek explained that the Barney centerpiece was most important. After helping to teach Tosha the song "The More We Get Together", Michael and Derek became friends again. At the end, Derek and Michael give her a picture they helped create together.
"On The Move"[]
Min arrives and gives Barney, Kathy, and Tosha news that Derek and Tina are coming back for a visit, and they decide to make them a special memory book as a going away gift. Tina and Derek eventually arrive and they explain what it's like to be going to a new school.
