The Barney Website was the online home of Barney media and news. It first launched in December 1997 as BarneyOnline. The website went offline on June 26, 2018. Attempts to reach the website result in being redirected to Mattel's website.
The website featured several different sections, including news, games for children, resources for parents, and Tour Dates. Throughout the years, information for international Barney content was promoted, as well as sweepstakes and giveaways held. Small bios on the characters, as well as articles about Barney & Friends alumni, were available in the earlier years of the website.
In 1998, the children's section of the site was referred to as the "Green & Purple Play Page" while the parents' area was titled "The Parent's Place". Additionally during this time period, the website would incorporate themes across the site for holidays and special months out of the year; themed resources were provided to viewers of the site.
