The Barney 25 Million Hugs Campaign (also known as "Share Barney Hugs") was an online campaign created by HIT Entertainment to celebrate Barney's 25th Anniversary. The campaign began on April 15, 2013 and revolved around sharing 25 million virtual hugs via a special website.
The Mission of the Campaign[]
While the campaign was an anniversary celebration, it was also to celebrate the 'spirit of Barney' with HIT's donation to to The Children's Hospital Association. With over thirty different "Barney Hugs" to choose from, visitors to to the website could share a video for someone's birthday, honor a veteran, or even reconcile friendship. In addition, there were several general "hugs" that featured Barney saying some of his famous catchphrases or even dancing.
For visitors who didn't want to send a hug personally, they could 'receive' a hug from Barney personally simply by pressing the "Get a Hug Button" on the homepage.
