Jason is a character who only appeared in the first three videos of Barney & The Backyard Gang. He was a member of The Backyard Gang for a brief period. He was portrayed by Salim Grant. Following the first three videos within Barney & The Backyard Gang, Jason is never mentioned nor does he appear for the rest of the series. Jason would be replaced by Derek, who debuted as a new boy in the neighborhood, for the rest of the series.

Jason's most significant role occurred in the video Three Wishes. After Barney tells The Backyard Gang that he'll grant three wishes and they're transported first to a fun park, Jason becomes disappointed that there weren't any animals to see. Barney sends him to a petting farm so he could play with the animals and get things ready for everyone until they arrived.
