• Family: Julie has her mom and dad, who adopted her (as mentioned in "A Welcome Home"). It is unknown what happened to her biological parents. It was also mentioned that she has a grandfather in "I Can Be a Firefighter!". In addition, she has an aunt named Molly. Aunt Molly travels all over the world and when she does, she always brings something back for Julie (as mentioned in "The Alphabet Zoo").
• Pets: Julie has a dog named Scooter. Julie used to have a pet cat, until she ran away (as mentioned in "A Welcome Home").

"A Welcome Home"

Min introduces Barney and her friends to one of the puppies that her dog Princess had. However, she cannot care for it herself due to already having a parakeet, a dog, and a cat. As Min explains that she's looking for someone to adopt the puppy, Julie explains adoption to the group, sharing her own experience of being adopted. Julie initially hesitates about adopting it herself, as she would need her mom's permission and was thinking about getting another cat after her first cat ran away. When Min goes outside to see the doghouse Shawn made, Julie watches the puppy and sings, "Someone to Love You Forever," to comfort the puppy, emphasizing the importance of finding a loving home. Ultimately, Julie decides to adopt the puppy if her mom agrees.

• Despite not appearing the film, the original draft of Barney's Great Adventure had Julie appearing in the beginning of the film, alongside the other children from season three of Barney & Friends.
