Barney & The Backyard Gang[]

While on a world cruise working, Baker and his partner, Stephen Bates Baltes, got acquainted with Richard C. Leach and his wife Rosemary Kearns Leach, a couple who was sitting next to them. Eventually when Baker and Bates Baltes went to work in Dallas, the couple invited them into their home, which is where they first met Sheryl Leach. They continued to keep in contact and eventually in December 1987, Richard C. Leach called and explained that his daughter-in-law, Sheryl, had a video idea for children. Richard C. Leach brought them on due to them having experience in doing musicals and having a background in theater.[1] The video idea eventually became Barney & The Backyard Gang, and Baker became the assistant director for the series. After the first three videos of the series, Baker wasn't asked to return for any future projects with the series.[1]
