Lauren Elizabeth Saatkamp (née King; born June 28, 1985 in Plano, Texas[1]) is an American account executive and a former child actress. Currently, she resides in Nashville, Tennessee and is an account executive for Vanderbilt IMG Sports Marketing at IMG College.[2] Prior to her occupation in accounting, she was well-known for portraying the role of "Kathy" on the children's television series Barney & Friends, and the preceding video series Barney & The Backyard Gang.

Audition[]
King auditioned for Barney & The Backyard Gang at ColorDynamics Studios in Allen, Texas. For her audition, King did a song and dance. Later, she received a callback to be informed that she was chosen for the role of "Kathy" for the video Rock with Barney in 1991 when she was at the age of five.
Barney & Friends[]
After Barney & the Backyard Gang ended, the video series was spun into a television series titled Barney & Friends. King portrayed "Kathy" for the first three seasons of Barney & Friends. King left the show following the end of the third season in 1995 as she had aged out of the role of "Kathy" and by this time, she was the last remaining child cast member to have any connection to the Backyard Gang series. She was originally supposed to appear in a home video that was set to be released in 1996, but was unable to take part because her class went on a school camping trip. It is currently unknown which video she was due to appear in. However, King reprised her role of "Kathy" in the tenth anniversary video Sing & Dance With Barney.

Prior to being on Barney & The Backyard Gang, King grew up watching the video series.[3] King would have Jessica Zucha ("Tina") come over to her house for sleepovers,[4] as the both of them use to live close to each other. King still keeps a pair of saddle shoes she used to wear during her time on Barney & Friends.[5]

During her time on the show, King's schoolteachers would visit her house to keep her up-to-date with the schoolwork she has completed.[6]
