Marcella Walker is a character who only appeared in Barney's Great Adventure. Portrayed by Kyla Pratt in the film, Marcella is Abby Newton's best friend, confidante, and fellow Barney believer.[2] Marcella comes along with on the Newtons' family trip to their farm in the film.

In initial scripts of what would become Barney's Great Adventure, we get a glimpse of Marcella's family, including knowing that she has a brother who's best friends with Cody Newton[1] as well as initial scripts revealing that Marcella is a cousin of Tosha, a prominent character on Barney & Friends. With the latter, Tosha sends Barney (as a plush) on summer vacation with Marcella in a box. Tosha even instructs Marcella as to how Barney works, with her writing that she needs to use her imagination for a big surprise.[3]
In the original script of the film, it was Marcella's dream was to ride a horse[1] however in the final version of the film, that dream would belong to Abby, as she would dream of becoming a jockey and win a horse race.
Although Marcella's last name was never revealed in the film and or in press releases, it's mentioned in the original script that her last name is Walker.
Role in film[]
Compared to initial scripts where Marcella is the one who brings along Barney on vacation and her dream being fulfilled, her significance in the final film is rather reduced to tagging along with the others. In the film, Abby, alongside Cody and Marcella are dropped off at the Greenfield Farm for a week. With her is a Barney plush. When she and the others get to the farm, Abby tries to convince Cody to have fun with Barney and play pretend with them and Marcella. Marcella and Abby use their imaginations to eventually bring Barney to life, to Cody's surprise. Throughout the film, she's delighted with the larger than life appearance of Barney, often playing with him (alongside Abby) on the farm. Eventually, she and the others discover a magical egg in the barn. Eventually she joins the others to take the egg to Miss Goldfinch to learn more about they eventually loose the egg. They try to go after the egg, with Marcella coming up with a way for Barney to join them, which is by Agnes carrying him on a carriage. They eventually chase it through a parade, a restaurant and the circus, where she and the others give up hope in the latter. Cheered up by Barney she joins the others to pursue the chase in the skies as the egg ends up in a hot air balloon. They eventually rescue it and Marcella and the other kids tell the Greenfields as to where they were the whole time. Marcella joins the others to witness the egg hatching in the barn.
