Mattel is the world's largest toy company, based on revenue. Established in 1945 by Matt Matson and Elliot Handler (the company name being a combination of their names), Mattel is famous for their Fisher-Price, Hot Wheels, and Barbie lines, among many others. In October 2011, they announced plans to buy HiT Entertainment from Apax Partners and completed the deal on February 1, 2012.
