"Pies That Surprise" was a song intended to be used in the film Barney's Great Adventure. In the original script of the film, Grandma Greenfield dreamed of winning first prize at the fair's pie-baking contest which caused her to make any kind of pie she could think of, while having Grandpa Greenfield taste them.

Lyrics[]
- I made my share of apple pies,
- Boysenberry too!
- But since I've never won first prize,
- It's time for something new.
- Mixed up flavors, crazy crusts,
- This year, it's first place or bust!
- I'm throwing out old recipes.
- I'll dare to do things differently!
- I'm baking up spaghetti peach,
- Chocolate kumquat, two of each.
- Gooseberry with extra goo,
- Dutch apple served in wooden shoes.
- Lemon licorice, melon mutton,
- Navel orange with a belly button,
- Macaroni macaroon,
- Who would like to lick the spoon?
- These will be pies that surprise!
- Baking, boiling, blending, beating,
- Peeling, poking, please - no eating!
- Stirring, straining, rolling dough,
- We have to hurry - go, team, go!
- Is the oven timer ticking?
- Something in the blender's sticking!
- Ketchup, corn, puree of prune,
- Who would like to lick the spoon?
- These will be pies that surprise!
- Huckleberry buckle pie,
- Meringue in mounds up to the sky,
- Newton's apple - Oops! It fell!
- Papaya plum in bright pastel,
- Nectarine with periscope,
- Passion fruit that "cantaloupe",
- The gravy grapefruit's coming soon,
- Who would like to lick the spoon?
- These will be pies that are sure to win a prize!
- The judges won't believe the taste!
- They won't believe their eyes!
- These will be pies that surprise!
