"Practice Makes Music" is the twentieth episode from the first season of Barney & Friends.

Plot[]

Michael has a cello solo at an upcoming school concert, and he's nervous! In a sprinkle of stars, Barney arrives to take Michael and the girls on a tuneful trip through the wonders of music. A special guest, a piano prodigy, shows the kids how "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" sounds to a Latin, rock & roll, and classical beat. There's a make-believe brass band, five tiny ballet dancers, and a puppet show where the voices are all instrumental! Michael wraps up the show with a flawless performance - thanks to practice and a purple pal.

Trivia[]

  • This episode marked:
    • The first time Luci and Tina appear with Tosha.
    • The only Season 1 episode where Tosha appeared without Kathy.
    • The final episode of Baby Bop's seven-season one episode absence before returning in "Hi, Neighbor!".
  • Michael would make references of him playing the cello in "Everyone Is Special", "Picture This!" and Sing And Dance With Barney.
  • The different music types on the fixed record are a waltz, an instrumental version of the Japanese song "Sakura Sakura," and a polka.
  • Unlike in this episode, vinyl records do not shatter easily when simply dropped on the floor (like the three 45-RPM records Tina accidentally broke and Barney then transformed into a single LP album); this only applies to older 78-RPM records made of shellac that were made until the 1950s.
