Rickey Carter (born Rickey Lynn Carter on November 9, 1981 in Shreveport, Louisiana) is a former actor who originated the role of Derek in Barney & Friends and the preceding Backyard Gang videos. He later moved to North Dallas, Texas with his mother.
Rickey left the show in 1994 and has not done any acting work ever since. As as a teen, he sold drugs & became a father to a daughter when he was 17 years old.
He is currently a rapper under the name Gifted Tha Go-Gitta.
