Sarah Marie Vernon Swartz (née Vernon; born November 25, 1978) is known to be one of the few female actresses who've performed as Barney the Dinosaur. She performed as Barney during the first leg of the tour, Barney's Colorful World! in 2003.

Career[]

Barney & Friends[]

Swartz's first job was at the age of sixteen in the summer of 1995, when she was a tour guide at the Studios at Las Colinas. During her time as a tour guide at the studio, Barney & Friends was being filmed there. When production didn't occur, she would walk onto the set to give a tour.

Barney's Colorful World![]

While at the University of North Texas during her senior year, Swartz's director mentioned that if she were to get cased in one out of ten auditions, it meant that one was a good actor. Swartz took this to heart and decided to go on auditions, and her fourth audition was for Barney & Friends. She eventually got a callback to her surprise. In the callback she had to wear the Barney costume, do dance numbers and do an interview. Margaret Foster, who was a wrangler at the time, convinced the producers to give Swartz a try. Swartz became a costume performer of Barney for the tour of Barney's Colorful World!, performing from January to May 2003.

Wrangler[]

After Barney's Colorful World!, Foster called Swartz and said that they needed a wrangler for Baby Bop for Barney & Friends. Swartz became a wrangler from 2005-2008 while even serving as a wrangler on home videos such as Let's Make Music and Dino-Mite Birthday.

Personal Life[]

Barney & Friends[]

While touring for Barney's Colorful World!, Swartz was planning her wedding. It was due to her getting married that she only fulfilled the first leg of the tour. After the tour when she became a wrangler for Barney & Friends, Swartz was pregnant with her son as she performed her wrangling duties around the production of season twelve of Barney & Friends.
