Taita is a character who who only appeared in the episode "The Magic Lamp: A Travel Adventure" which was a part of the the twelfth season of Barney & Friends. Taita was portrayed by Tatiana Shehadeh.
Taita is the grandmother of Layla and the mother of Mrs. Obeid. Taita was the surprise that Layla's mother had for her during her birthday while she was in the park. Upon seeing her, Layla greeted her and expressed how much she missed her. Taita missed seeing Layla as well. It's evident that through the greeting that Taita exchanged with Barney that they already know each other as well.
After the greetings, Layla showcased to Taita what her mom got her for her birthday, which were gifts from Lebanon. The first thing she showed her were cymbals, in which Taita explained that Layla's mother loved dancing with them. Layla also showed Taita a lamp, which caused Taita to explain that her mother gave it to her when she was Layla's age and that her hope is that Layla will pass it on to her daughter because it's tradition (which is important to their family). Taita tells Layla that she's very special to her.
She then pulls out a birthday present to give to Layla, which turns out to be a picture frame. Layla's mother then suggests they start adding new family traditions, with Taita emphasizing that she'd love to help as well.
