Background[]
Development[]
Along Billy and Annie, Tina was originally named Cindy in the first draft of The Backyard Show.
Role in series[]
Barney & The Backyard Gang[]
Campfire Sing-Along[]
At the beginning of the video, Tina's mother was reading Tina the book called Let's Go Camping, in which Tina then asked as to when they could go camping, as she's never slept in a tent before. Her mother said soon, but encouraged her to go to sleep. Given that Tina was unable to go to sleep without Barney, her mother quickly gave him to her. As Tina fell asleep, she began to dream about a camping trip with Barney and The Backyard Gang. Tina and the others were all summoned to the woods by Barney. Tina tells Barney that he must've known that her mom was reading her story, to which Barney responded that stories can come to life in one's imagination. The gang then proceeded to various camping activities. Eventually, as everyone was going back to the campsite, Tina was left behind as she got distracted by playing with a turtle. It eventually grew dark and Tina became scared. Tina then remembered Barney's advice from earlier which was to stay where she was, hug a tree and blow the whistle that was given. She blew the whistle and everyone came to find her. The gang proceeded to more activities until evening and they all eventually went to sleep in the tent. Tina eventually wakes up from her dream and sees a butterfly fly out of her camping book that was read to her at night.
Barney Goes To School[]
Another prominent role in the series, Tina wishes that there was school everyday and wishes that she could show Barney around. Barney overhears her and grants her wish and they're both transported into her school classroom. Throughout the video, Tina and the other Backyard Gang members show Barney what they do in school. After the day ends, everyone is transported away and Tina thanks Barney for the wonderful Saturday and mentions that she's going to take Barney to show and tell given that he's a special friend to her.
Barney & Friends[]
"Hop To It!"[]
Tina is sad because she can't do a basketball trick that her sister Luci can. Throughout the day of fun exercise routines and games, Barney eventually shows Tina that she can do lots of exercises by herself. With a little encouragement from Barney, Tina tries one more time to learn the basketball trick and eventually accomplishes it.
"Oh, What A Day!"[]
Tina is having a bad day. First, she had soap in her eyes, spilling a bowl of cereal all over her favorite dress, wearing two different colored socks 1 blue and the other green as she was in a hurry to change, accidentally grabbing her dad's lunch bag (containing sardine sandwich and cottage cheese without any desserts) instead of hers, and it seems to be getting worse and worse, with the latest incident involving a rushing peer accidentally bumping into Tina and knocking books out of her hands. But worst of all, she let her kitten Whiskers out of the house after she accidentally left the door open and fears he ran away. Barney and the gang try to cheer her up through songs and activities, but no matter what they do, Tina keeps having terrible luck (e.g. breaking a hand-made drum, stubbing her toe while dancing, and causing the top part of the ice cream to fall on the floor) Barney, Baby Bop, and the other kids tell her that she should just try to make herself smile to make her troubles go away. But then Barney finds Whiskers and Tina's day suddenly becomes much brighter.
"Grandparents Are Grand!"[]
Tina feels sad because she misses Abuelo, who lives far away. Barney and the kids offer her support and suggest ways to stay connected with him, such as talking to him on the phone, writing him letters, or sending him pictures.
"On The Move"[]
Min arrives and gives Barney, Kathy, and Tosha news that Derek and Tina are coming back for a visit, and they decide to make them a special memory book as a going away gift. Tina and Derek eventually arrive and they explain what it's like to be going to a new school.
