Tony is a character who only appeared in Barney's Big Surprise and its respective book adaptation. He was portrayed by Trent Gentry.

Tony is first seen, alongside the other kids, playing in the treehouse once the curtains open. Barney then proceeds to introduce the kids, including Tony, who makes it known that he's happy to be there. He and the others then proceed to show the audience as to what they were doing in the treehouse. Tony showed the audience that he was pretending to be a sailor.

Eventually Tony tells the others that he can see someone coming through the telescope. It's made known to him that he had the telescope backwards, eventually seeing that the person coming is rather close, and it's Baby Bop. After hopping alongside Baby Bop, and it's made known that there's a big surprise, Tony then proceeds to assist with BJ's entrance, helping to roll in his big drum for his birthday. Tony then asks if the audience would like to guess how old BJ is. From pretending to fly in an airplane to flying kites, Tony and the children decide to decorate the treehouse for BJ's birthday party as the dinosaurs go see Professor Tinkerputt for BJ's surprise.

Soon after the dinos return, the treehouse is all decorated and Tony, alongisde the other children, join in the festivities that take place during the rest of the show, including imagining treats, playing a game of Old MacDonald (where Tony is dressed as corn) and having fun with Mother Goose's rhymes.
