Trenton Blake "Trent" Gentry (born July 25, 1986 in Fort Worth, Texas[1]) is a former American child actor who portrayed Tony in the tour of Barney's Big Surprise. He was a singer and songwriter in Austin, Texas, but is currently working as a pastry chef at Knife Steakhouse in Dallas, Texas.

Audition[]
Gentry attended acting classes at Young Actors Studio in Dallas, Texas. It was at that studio that he would later be inquired to audition for the tour. For his audition, Gentry sang "Happy Birthday" to Sheryl Leach and two executive producers.[2] Gentry landed the role of "Tony" for Barney's Big Surprise when he was at the age of nine.

Gentry portrayed Tony for the original run of the national tour of Barney's Big Surprise from September 1996 until June 1998. Before each show, Gentry and the entire cast would always have a ritual where they huddle in a circle and say a prayer.

Gentry was known as a prankster in the cast as he would rig parts of the set so they would fall apart or break if one of the cast members touched them.
Post-Barney[]
After his time on Barney's Big Surprise, Gentry returned to public school, where he became "the coolest kid in school" among his peers.[3]
