Twynkle is an elf who appeared in Barney's Magical Musical Adventure. She is the elf who guards the bridge to the royal fairytale castle, and she speaks exclusively in rhyme.
Bio & History[]
After the "Silly Sounds" song, Tina tries to make more echos, but Twynkle answers them. When Tina shouts out "How are you?" Twynkle replies with, "I'm fine. How are you?" Everyone suddenly wonders who that was, Twynkle tells them, "Would you really like to see? Here I come, watch out for me." Tina starts everyone wondering who could be talking to them. Twynkle then says, "When you see my size, you'll get a surprise." Twynkle hides behind a bush and Michael shows everyone that it's shaking. Everyone is so scared, they run away. When they're gone, Twynkle says (presumably to the audience) "They ran so fast, they didn't see that the great big voice was little me." and the camera lowers down to her shoes. She laughs and disappears in sparkles.
When Barney and the kids reach the bridge, Twynkle appears on it stopping them from going any further, "Oh no, you don't. I say you won't." Derek asks who she is. She tells them, "I'm the echo you didn't see. Just a moment ago you ran from me. I'm happy to introduce myself. My name is Twynkle and I'm an elf." Derek tells her he likes her name while Min is quite shocked that she's an elf. Michael asks what she's doing. She tells him, "I guard this bridge, that's what I do and I will just not move for you." Barney clears things up with her telling her they're friends of the king and they were going to the castle to see him. At this, Twynkle says, "Oooo, friends of the king. That's a different thing." She beckons them forward, but not onto the bridge, "You may cross my bridge if you are telling me true, but first there are three things that you must do." Barney asks the others if they think they should try, to which they all agree.
Twynkle gives them their first task: "Number one is a real humdinger, you have to stand on just one finger." It proves difficult as none of the others know how such a thing is possible. Michael says he can stand on his head and maybe that's close. Derek figures out the answer by simply putting on his fingers under his foot so he's standing on just one finger. Everyone applauds him including Twynkle who says, "I say from my heart that was very smart."
Twynkle then gives them their second task: "Now it's time for number two. You must all sing Looby Loo." Here, Barney and the kids are quite relieved since they know how to do that and Tina invites Twynkle to do it with them, "I guess I could, indeed I would." Afterwards, she says, "I must admit, that dance was fun. Thank you, thank you everyone."
Barney then asks what the third task is. Twynkle tells them the last thing is just to be her friends as she often gets lonely guarding the bridge on her own. Everyone quite willingly agrees with Min saying that they were already her friends. Twynkle cartwheels and says, "Whoopideedee! New friends for me!" and everyone comes over to hug her. Barney points out how making new friends is one of his favorite things to do in the magic forest. Twynkle tells them they may cross the bridge and directs them that the castle can be found "over the very next hill." Twynkle leads the way to the castle gate. Barney is about to lead inside until they notice the gate is locked. Twynkle giggles and Michael asks "Do you know how to get in?" She knocks on the gate and wall saying, "Can't go through metal, can't go through rock," beckons them over, "but they open the gate at 3 o'clock." Michael checks his watch and sees that 3 o'clock is near and suggests they stay by the gate and have fun until it opens. Barney asks Twynkle if she would like to stay and have fun with them. She tells Barney, "Oh, I am happy to be your friend. It's time to go back to my bridge again. Have fun everyone!" She bids them goodbye and, with a special jump, disappears again.
Personality[]
Twynkle proves from the beginning to be a very mischievous and playful elf. As guardian of the bridge to the castle, she does her job well, not allowing anyone across unless they are friends of the king. If anyone does cross her bridge, she gives three tasks for them to do first and, if all are complete, she grants them passage and leads the way to the castle. As she is often alone to guard the bridge, she always looks for friends and sometimes will run off to play. She also proves to be kind and likes to help people.
Physical appearance[]
Twynkle wears a green button-down tunic with a fringed edge and sleeves, grey leggings and navy elf boots. She has a green robin hood-style hat the same color and style as her tunic. She has orange curly hair pulled back from her face.
