History
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is an annual, month that recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to events in history and history that's currently in the making. The efforts to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month began in the late 1970s. It originally started out as a week-long celebration before Congress expanded it to a month. May was annually celebrated as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month beginning in 1992. In 2009, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month was renamed as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.[1]

Hawaii
- In 2017, Auli’i Cravalho (born in Kohala, Hawaii), best known as the voice of Moana from the Disney film of the same name, stated that the first ever song she sang in public was "The Rainbow Song" from Barney & Friends.[2]
Barney's Beach Party
- Hawaii's culture and natural beauty were the inspirations when scriptwriter Stephen White wrote the video Barney's Beach Party.[3]
- Between April 26-28, 2002, the Barney's Beach Party was shown on the 30-foot Sunset on the Beach screen in Waikiki, Hawaii. This presentation was followed by a 20-minute sing-along with Barney, Baby Bop, and BJ performing songs from the video.
- The stage show to Barney's Beach Party was originally performed in Hawaii from April 26, 2002 to April 28, 2002.
