Yankee Doodle is a well-known American song, the early versions of which date to before the Seven Years' War and the American Revolution (1775–83). This song first appeared in "Alphabet Soup!". It is best known in Barney media as the tune for the "Barney Theme Song" (The Barney theme wasn't the first theme song to the tune of Yankee Doodle, Roger Ramjet was the first kids show to use a theme song in the tune of Yankee Doodle).

Lyrics

Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
